UNESCO announces winners - SERES named!

Director-General of UNESCO, Ms Irina Bokova, has announced the names of the first winners of the newly established UNESCO-Japan Prize for outstanding projects related to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), with SERES being named one of the three laureates!

The UNESCO-Japan Prize was established in 2014 to honour outstanding efforts of individuals, institutions and organizations engaged in ESD activities. You can read more about the prize here.

Selected as one of three winners from hundreds of applications from around the world, this award is a huge recognition not just of the hard work and devotion of SERES incredible team of facilitators and local ambassadors, but also the importance of youth sustainability leadership.

We will be using the award money to continue training young leaders to be ESD Ambassadors. Our goal is to train 100 leaders in the next 3 years. To do this, we are just starting the construction of a sustainability leadership and learning training center in Guatemala, which you can read more about here. Stay tuned in the coming months as we launch our fundraising campaign to have our first training at this new facility early next year!
