Lahares, a latent risk

Why, after the eruption of the volcano, should we worry and focus on the lahars? Because to date they represent a real and latent risk!

  • After a strong eruption, the lahars are the most significant threat of the Fuego volcano.

  • It is of utmost importance to develop a surveillance and early warning capacity to avoid the loss of life.

  • The existence of the threat of lahars does not necessarily mean that it is essential to evacuate the exposed areas permanently.
